Seasons
You know the saying, "There's no off season?" Well, we're the proof. SRWRC plays a regular season in the fall semester, and tournament season in the spring semester. Between early September and mid-November, we play one 80 minute game every weekend, typically with teams within our conference, to advance to national playoffs. Between late March and late April, we travel to different universities and tournament locations to participate in multiple shortened games on weekends.
Practices
Fall practices are held Tuesday through Friday from 5PM to 7PM on our home field behind building F.
Spring practices before Spring Break are held Tuesday and Thursday from 6AM-8AM, and Sunday from 10AM-12PM in the ARC. After Spring Break, practices are held Tuesday through Friday from 5PM to 7PM at various locations.
Players
If you're intrigued by the beautiful sport of rugby, but are worried about your lack of knowledge of the game, fear not. Almost none of our players had ever touched a rugby ball or watched a game before joining our team. We come from all over the east coast, range in majors from Exercise Science to Geology, and have joined the team as early as our first week of freshman year and as late as our senior years. We have a place on the field for every body type, so don't be shy. Join us for an afternoon on the pitch.
ABOUT US
Founded in 1984, Slippery Rock Women's Rugby Club has carried a long tradition of excellence. In the past seven years, we have achieved three berths to the national playoffs, despite being a small school among Division II teams. We are a member of the Allegheny Rugby Union, but we compete with teams outside of our conference as well. Any member, past or present, of Rock Rugby will agree that by stepping onto the pitch, they gained a family.
